Vince McDonell

Dr. Vincent G. McDonell, Adjunct Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Director of the UC Irvine Combustion Laboratory at the University of California-Irvine, focuses on gas turbine combustion systems for both liquid and gas-fired applications. He is a recognized world expert on phase Doppler interferometry and highly respected for his scientific skill and command of optical diagnostics in two-phase flows, and the physics of two-phase transport. Research by Professor McDonell is documented in over 100 publications.

Marcus Herrmann is an Associate Professor in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at Arizona State University. He received his Diploma and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Technology (RWTH) Aachen, Germany. He was a visiting scientist at the University of Technology Eindhoven, The Netherlands and postdoctoral fellow and research associate at the Center for Turbulence Research (CTR) at Stanford University. He joined the faculty of Arizona State University in 2007. His main research areas are numerical methods for tracking interfaces, the simulation and modeling of turbulent multiphase flows during atomization processes, and turbulent premixed and partially premixed combustion.
