UCICL Students Present Research at CalTech

Students present at Caltech

Three UCICL students presented papers at the 2014 Spring Meeting of the Western States Section of the Combustion Institute held on the campus of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA. Meagan Sung presented her research[1] studying different strategies to introduce water into liquid fueled combustion processes. Elliot presented research[2] associated with the development of criteria for determining if a reaction will hold on various geometry features representative of those found in premixing passages for advanced low emissions gas turbines and industrial burners. Howard presented research[3] on the development and application of optical systems for studying the dynamic behavior of a reacting air jet injected into a vitiated crossflow. Prof. McDonell accompanied the students to the meeting and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the WSS/CI.
